Asvotec signs contract with GE for the delivery of heat recovery units.
Production will start in October; the first equipment will be delivered in 2014.
A contract signed in May with GE Oil & Gas for the delivery of 16 heat recovery units WHRU (Waste Heat Recovery Unit) represents one of the greatest achievements of Asvotec for the businesses in the first semester. The equipment is part of the project of Assignment for Consideration for the Petrobras Offshore Production. The manufacturing start is foreseen for October of this year, and the first deliveries should take place in February/ 2014.
“This purchase order is a result of a joint work between the Commercial (Sales and Budgeting) and Technical (Engineering) areas, who have developed an audacious and compact project for the customer”, said the general director, Christian Mader. He highlighted that the tireless perseverance of the commercial team for the project development and the credibility of Asvotec in the market were the main indicators to win the competition. “This should encourage us to continue perseverant, tireless and persistent in relation to the development of projects and customers”, he said.
Christian had also explained that the heat recovery units are utilized in several platform-vessels for the offshore exploration and production of oil & gas. The function of such equipment is to recover the heat from the combustion gas of the gas turbines of this type of vessel (FPSO - Floating Production Storage and Offloading). “The gas turbines generate electricity for the platform-vessel and our equipment recovers the heat wasted by the turbine for heating the process water for the vessel”.
Each of the WHRU equipment which will be manufactured weighs about one hundred tons, and it is composed of convection box, heat exchange serpentine, combustion gas passage ducts, exhaust stack, control louver valves (damper), guillotine valves for hot gas lockout, silencers and expansion joints.
The general director remembers that Asvotec already has know-how in this segment, and he also says that in the 1980s the company had delivered similar equipment for the Enchova and Garoupa platforms for the Campos Basin in Rio de Janeiro.
